Ink, Mind, and Spirit — A Zen Calligraphy Journey in Kyoto

Step into a hidden Zen temple in Kyoto and immerse yourself in the timeless art of Japanese calligraphy. Guided by the chief priest, you will begin with a brief zazen meditation, allowing your mind to settle into stillness before putting brush to paper.

Surrounded by the quiet elegance of a temple far from the bustle of the city, you will create your work while gazing upon a garden designed over 400 years ago by one of Japan’s most celebrated painters. The harmony of nature, history, and art will inspire every stroke of your brush.

For centuries, calligraphy and Zen have been deeply intertwined in Japanese culture. They share the same essence: a practice that transcends religion and art, becoming a path of spiritual cultivation.
